Ways to make $$ in travel

This is probably my #1 asked question of all time.

How on earth do you travel so much?? For those of you who care to hear a bit how I got my start, I figured I’d share - for those who are just here for the info, feel free to keep scrolling & I’ve got your hook up with all the links.

My 2019 self DREAMED of becoming a travel blogger but it seemed like nobody in the industry was sharing their secrets or they had a photographer boyfriend who they traveled the world with & hello that was not me.

In 2021 I traveled abroad to Greece and realized that spending hours looking at travel bloggers feeds had paid off because I somehow knew what I was doing when it came to capturing content. I knew how to tell a story through the photos and capture a place well. After trying my hand at the fashion and lifestyle world in 2022 I circled back to realize my passion was where it always was. I thought, how on EARTH do I make this happen. I didn’t have a ton of money to drop on these insane trips so I kind of just waited. Then I got dumped, yeah. Kicked out of the house I was living inn dumped & my life went from one of comfort to sleeping on friends couches for about four months.

This was my push.

There was periods of time where I did not know where I was going to sleep at night so traveling truly became, “how can I make money by working with brands and hotels & call a trip work instead of calling myself what I really was, homeless.”

You’ve probably started reading this & are saying something along the lines of, “well Mackenzie I can’t get brand deals I’m not an influencer,” I hear you just let me tell my story for two seconds my girl.

2023 I decide to move to England and this was NOT a cheap move, life savings here we go. Rent abroad was expensive so I wanted travel to be cheap. I’ve had experiences all over, from sleeping in airports, sleeping in dorm hostel rooms, to sleeping in five star hotels. Thus if you’re looking for advice from all over the map, I’ve got you.

There are ways to make money in travel for every single type of traveler.

First off I want to define that there is a difference between traveling and vacationing. I only learned this from living abroad. You are probably seeing lots of girls on instagram posting up in their 5 star resorts, dropping a ton of money on a trip — even if some if gifted or paid, money is still being spent.

This was me, until I realized how much money you can save my TRAVELING > vacationing. However this blog post is not about that (but let me know if you want me to write a post on saving money on saving money while traveling).
