2023 I am expectant

New year.

I am starting 2023 wanting more of God. That’s been a constant prayer of mine. To start truly turning towards Him and away from my sin and fleshly desires. When I walked into church yesterday to a series titled “More of God,” I was all in for anything God was about to speak. Through More of God my church is doing the Daniel Fast.

The Daniel Fast in short is: no meat, no animal products, no dairy, no sugar, no alcohol. Basically just fruits and vegetables for 21 days.

In line with the Daniel Fast I also felt the Lord telling me to give up social media. I am honestly not sure how that one is going to work since social media is my job and I cannot exactly just take 21 days off, but I know if Gods in it, there is something so much bigger on the other side.

To be honest with y’all I’ve been living in a constant cycle of sin that’s been merely impossible to get out of. I am angry about situations that I have gone through throughout 2022 but I have decided this year I am leaving all of those things behind. Jesus made a sacrifice for us so that we did not have to live in bondage to sin, but honestly that is exactly what I have been doing. As a result of that bondage, I’ve been feeling left without a purpose. God can use a sinner but God can’t use someone who refuses to let go of their sin and turn it over to Him.

I want to experience more of God. This means leaving sin at the door and having a bigger view of grace.

Romans 5:8 — But God demonstrates his own love for us in this while we were still sinners Christ died for us.

If you grew up in an environment where you felt perfection was expected from you, this is likely hard for you to grasp too. Even while you are sitting knee deep in your sin, God loves you just as much as if you were living what you would see as the perfect walk.

We are SO undeserving of that kind of love. His love is the only perfect love we will ever experience. Your boyfriend, girlfriend, parents, best friends, will never be able to fill the void inside of you that is fit for Jesus.

We serve a God who chases after us when we are in the pit of our mess, who stands next to us in the fiery trials of life, a God who took on the weight of our sin so we would no longer have to live in bondage.

He is so worthy of our praise and our worship because of THAT ALONE. We worship Him not because we want to be “good christians,” but because His love is far greater than anything else we will ever experience.

The next 21 days I am expectant, I know my God is going to show up big and I am so excited for that. My pastor put it this way, I’m giving up something physical to gain something spiritual.
